The
External Affairs Committee monitors proposed legislation and regulations
that are of particular interest to the Healthcare Planning and Marketing
Society of New Jersey membership. Significant legislative and
regulatory changes that impact healthcare planning and marketing are analyzed
for their impact on the health care industry. The committee prepares
draft testimony for presentation by the Society's President, or representative,
at legislative hearings and regulatory bodies when major issues are being
considered.
The External Affairs
Committee serves as a liaison between HPMSNJ and the New Jersey Department of
Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS) for updates on recent and anticipated
developments in the areas of licensing, certificate of need and hospital
inspections, compliance and enforcement.
Meetings with the NJDHSS staff occur bi-annually and include the Director of CN and
Healthcare Facility Licensure and staff and the Director or a representative of the Assessment
& Survey team. In addition, representatives from the New Jersey Hospital Association, Hospital
Alliance of NJ and NJ Council of Teaching Hospitals are generally present. HPMSNJ
membership is invited to attend on a rotational basis, as seating is limited.
For those
members who cannot attend, meeting minutes (courtesy of NJHA) are available on the HPMSNJ website.
